Quitting Smoking
June 27, 2007With only 4 days to go before smoking in enclosed public places becomes illegal, I have decided to join the ranks of the non-smokers. In order to successfully mount a serious campaign against the wily wants my tobacco addiction, I have succumbed to the following -
- buying many and various snack foods – primarily nuts and chocolate. I’m feeling those extra pounds already.
- getting assistance from the ‘Tesco Quit Poster’. I know it’s Tesco and they’re evil and all – but you get cool little stickers to stick on if you’ve not smoked – which is great! I think I remember my mother using the same technique for bed-wetting when I was little, and it worked then, so why not now (too much information?).
- drinking a pint of water every time I want a cigarette. Once you’ve reached your limit on water, you really don’t want any more. I’m definitely building an association in my mind between craving and stomach bursting…that’s got to be helping to limit it a little!
Yeah, i’m gonna quit as soon as i finish the last pack of cigarettes in my room. I hope i could completely give up smoking before i return to China. I’ll try your methods.
This is a war… Good luck Mr. Dow …
Good for you John! Good luck with it all. However, according to Zhong Ke (2007) –
“I think that people’s attitude about nicotine can reflect their attitude about life. U can never feel the real sense of nicotine until u make it a part of you.Just like the love, u can never tell u would love a girl until u’ve got into her life. The real sense of nicotine comes only when u make it into ur blood stream, and let it to kiss your lung tenderly.”
If this still holds true, I have a question for you – has your attitude to life changed recently?
